SantaBuddy.com
was founded and developed during the second half of 2006 and is owned and
operated by a husband and wife team who makes Christmas our most favorite
holiday of the year and takes great care to give our 3 children, and many
nieces and nephews the most memorable one possible, year after year. They enjoy
getting letters from Santa every year. Family, and especially children is
what it is all about during the holidays, and that is why we developed this
site, so we could do something that we love to do, and have an enjoyable time
sharing our passion together, during our favorite season,
by spreading the holiday spirit to others, especially children.
We also are parents of an 8 year old
little
girl who has had type1 diabetes for 5 1/2 years. We came up with the idea of
raising money for research for the
Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation (J.D.R.F.). Starting in 2007 we will begin donating 10%-20%
of our retail sales to the J.D.R.F. We believe a cure can be found within the next
5-10 years, but only with support, can we find a cure for this dreadful disease
of many compounding complications. Make one child smile while improving the
quality of life of another. Please see below for donation details. Your support
is greatly needed and appreciated.
Every child dreams of having his or
her very own letter from Santa Claus just as our children have. With all the decorations, Christmas
carols, gift wrapping, and spending time with family and friends, we thought the holidays
should be topped off with a letter from Santa, just to make it
that much more memorable and magical for the little ones, (or for your
significant other, your friends' children, or even your pets!). The best
thing about the holidays is to watch a child's face glow with happiness and
surprise. Every letter we send is carefully hand personalized with attention to
every
detail. To our new
customers...Thank you for your order and we hope to fulfill your needs year
after year. We soon hope to be the best "Letters From Santa" site on the web,
simply because we personalize our letters far more than any other site on the
planet. For any questions regarding our service, please check out our list

Juvenile
Diabetes Facts
*Type 1 diabetes strikes children
suddenly, makes them dependent on injected or pumped insulin for life, and
carries the constant threat of devastating complications. While diagnosis most
often occurs in childhood and adolescence, it can and does strike adults as
well. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system
attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells of the pancreas. While the
causes of this process are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that
both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved.
*A few of the most common first
signs of impending juvenile diabetes are, increased thirst, high frequency of
urination or quickly soaking diaper, sugar in urine, fruity breath odor, labored
breathing, changes in vision, itchy skin, and constant tiredness and
lethargy due to very dangerous toxins in the body, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia,
stupor or unconsciousness, and diabetic ketoacidosis (high blood sugar/DKA). If these signs are present beyond what
could be considered as the flu or longer than 1 - 2 days, seek medical attention
ASAP. These signs may occur suddenly.
*To stay alive, people with
type 1 diabetes must take multiple insulin injections daily or continually
infuse insulin through a pump, and test their blood sugar by pricking their
fingers for blood six or more times per day. While trying to balance insulin
doses with their food intake and daily activities, people with this form of
diabetes must always be prepared for serious hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) and
hyperglycemic (high blood sugar) reactions, both of which can be life-limiting
and life threatening.
* Juvenile Diabetes can be
overwhelming and very difficult to get control of due to the unpredictable
activity levels and eating habits of especially young children. Both low blood
sugar and high blood sugar is very dangerous and can cause life threatening
complications early in life if not controlled correctly.
*Some very serious complications
of failing to control diabetes are blindness, kidney disease, kidney failure,
obesity, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, nerve damage, foot conditions including amputation
and many other compounding problems and complications. Juvenile diabetes is
especially important to control during the early onset of the disease to prevent
serious consequences from occurring in early life thereby significantly reducing
the lifespan of the diabetic.
* Diabetics, with proper care and
control, can lead long, healthy, productive, and normal lives. The insulin
syringe or the insulin pump now take the place of the pancreas.
*While insulin allows a person
to stay alive, it does not cure diabetes nor does it prevent its eventual and
devastating effects: kidney failure, blindness, nerve damage, amputations, heart
attack and stroke.
*As many as 3 million Americans
may have type 1 diabetes
*Each year over 13,000 children
are diagnosed with diabetes in the U.S. That’s 35 children each and every day.
*What is it like to have juvenile diabetes?
Ask people who have juvenile diabetes. It’s difficult. It’s
upsetting. It’s life threatening. It doesn’t go away.
-Both children and adults
like me who live with type 1 diabetes need to be mathematicians, physicians,
personal trainers and dieticians all rolled into one. We need to be constantly
factoring and adjusting, making frequent finger sticks to check blood sugars,
and giving ourselves multiple daily insulin injections just to stay alive.
Actress Mary Tyler Moore, JDRF’s International Chairman
-Diabetes is always there. There’s never a vacation. It’s like a bad dream
that lasts all day, all year, for my entire life.
Patrick Finan, 16, New York
-Every day, I have to endure up to six injections of insulin and more than
ten finger pricks to keep me alive. When my blood sugar is high, my head hurts,
I feel angry and sad, and it is hard to concentrate. When my blood sugar is
low, I am dizzy, shaky, and in danger of becoming unconscious.
- Emma Melton, 16, Massachusetts
-I already have problems with my kidneys, and I take medicine every day so my
kidneys won’t fail. I worry about what will happen if a cure isn’t found soon.
I don’t have time to wait.
- LaNiece Evans-Scott, 11, Ohio
